The DiscoverReady Way is our systematic approach to effectively conduct electronic document reviews. It is our mission to standardize as much of the process as possible in order to bring predictability and consistency to the discovery process. We have developed the following six steps to enable us to work with responsible counsel to successfully manage and execute large-scale discovery projects:
1. Planning
The success of any project rests greatly on the thoroughness of the project planning phase. We work through every aspect of the discovery process, from collection, through the review and production process. Our planning process always includes a critical path to deadline compliance, ensuring that there are adequate resources and ample time to deliver the project on time and within budget.
2. Apex Review™
Our approach to document review begins with the most important custodians and the most relevant data. We first work with counsel to help our clients prioritize their custodian list and our team then collaborates on a preliminary review of the key custodian files. After completion of this review, we re-assess the timeline, budget, and our approach to make any necessary changes before reviewing the remainder of the data. We then apply our updated, tested methodology to the other custodians and re-commence review.
3. Continuous Workflow
Our ongoing effort to eliminate waste throughout the review process is the core of DiscoverReady’s continuous workflow philosophy. By executing the review and production process in a seamless and simultaneous manner, we reduce wasted time and effort that occurs when results are not examined until the end of a project. Continuous workflow also drives continuous improvement. We constantly update our workflow to meet the changing needs of our clients and our professionals are always on the watch for new information that can impact the review or overall discovery strategy.
4. Quality Control
For DiscoverReady, Quality Control (QC) is more than a step at the end of the project or after documents are reviewed – it is a component to each phase of our projects, from start to finish. Our integrated and strategic approach to QC is unrivaled, combining the most comprehensive technological and physical standard quality steps in the industry with custom QC measures for each project. The net results of our processes are more rapid and thorough identification of key documents and the most advanced privilege screening process available from any resource.
5. Project Management
Each project is assigned a Project Manager (PM) with overall responsibility for the case, as well as monitoring daily activity, producing status reports and conducting periodic meetings. The PM is also responsible for developing a budget and timeline in the planning process, keeping the project on schedule and within budget, benchmarking for key tasks and deadlines and providing meaningful information to our clients on a timely basis.
6. Technology
We are a technology neutral company. We have evaluated and used most of the electronic review applications on the market today and in some instances, we have helped to design them. Since we specialize in review, we also understand our clients’ need for faster, more efficient tools to get through voluminous sets of data. This knowledge base gives us the ability to offer a best of breed approach to document review by utilizing appropriate technology for each project and each project phase.
Our team relies heavily on these six areas of expertise to execute projects that meet our clients’ tight deadlines and budgetary parameters. Our clients receive the benefit of each of our core team members experience as we collectively design a review strategy to address their unique requirements.
